This is my bike, isn’t she pretty?

I’ve been waiting a while to put my bike back together due to lack of parts, and I’ve been sweet-talking everyone I know about how darn sexy my little transit darling was going to look. Finally, it all comes to fruition.

The intriguing part to all of this is that the bike actually looks way cooler than I’d previously anticipated, and I was even fond of it without the shiny violet rims. It’s wonderful that my bike is together in time for the weather to change and the clouds to lift, so the chrome frame is going to look even more shiny now that the sun has decided to show its stupid face again.

This also marks a shift in how I get to school and when I get to wake up in the morning. So far, getting up at 6:30 every day hasn’t been much of an issue, but I think that giving myself the opportunity to sleep in for a little while longer is going to prevent zombieface stephanie come 6′ o-clock every day. This should help me get through Ergonomics without passing out so much, not for lack of enjoying the class, but moreso because the caffeine crash happens just about that time. Seeing as it will only take me about 10 minutes to bike to school as opposed to FOURTY-FIVE MINUTES to bus to school, I’m finding the change to be greatly welcomed.

Beautiful bike overlord, I welcome you back into my life. Also you will save me $70/month in buying one-zone Vancouver bus passes. What a perk! I’m very happy not to be forced to stuff that money into the pockets of the Tranlink board of directors anymore.

As a resident of the Netherlands, I can truly say that’s one of the most beautiful bikes I’ve ever seen. How did you find such a good looking machine? You said you been waiting for parts – did you put it all together yourself?

Hi Sam, thanks! It’s pieced together from the freshest ingredients- The frame is a Bianchi pista 49 cm with all of the decals removed, and the chrome shined like crazy. The wheels are custom built with violet deep v velocity rims and IRO formula hubs, and I got the snazzy purple bar tape from Soma. I love my bike :]

Hey that’s a really, REALLY good-looking bike.

I am getting a second-hand bianchi pista frame this week (same size as yours) and was wondering – how did you get the decals off? I have head that it’s difficult because they are under the clearcoat. Cheers :)

hey MAX, in order to get the decals off I used a product called ’super strippa’ which I picked up at the local Home Depot-type store. Use gloves and do it in a ventilated room.

Your bicycle is amazing! I got a bike last year for the same reasons- costly monthly public transportation expenses, and a total 2 hour round trip commute by train that now takes me only 20 min round trip! How did you learn to build your own?
